After some rather irritating indecisiveness about architect, about name, and perhaps about its own existence, the planned tower formerly known as 120 Ocean and before that as Kallisto, formerly designed by Bermello Ajamil, and before that Arquitectonica, will finally rise as Glass, designed by Rene Gonzalez, according to exMiami. And hopefully it'll stay that way, because indecisiveness is exhausting and stressful, and stress gives us wrinkles, and if there's something nobody in Miami wants, it's wrinkles. And this time the design's actually pretty good. With reflexive glass panels on a boxy facade and wrapping balconies, it's kind of the typical glass box but with a slightly mind-warping Rene Gonzalez twist.  read more

People who live in Glass houses ... will have few neighbors. A good thing if they value privacy.
A new 18-story luxury condominium called Glass, slated for the sizzling South of Fifth neighborhood of Miami Beach, will boast just 10 units with 360-degree views and wide outdoor terraces.

Miami-based Terra Group tapped Rene Gonzalez, a highly regarded Miami architect, for the project at 120 Ocean Dr.. The oceanfront high-rise will feature floor-to-ceiling glass walls and aim at integrating the indoors and outdoors to highlight the natural beach surroundings and convey a sense of place. “It’s really a unique design,’’ said Terra Group president and chief operating officer David Martin, who could have put three times as many units on the site. “It’s something I don’t think I’ll be able to do again.’’

Gonzalez — whose diverse projects include the 3 Indian Creek mansion that sold last year for a record $47 million and CIFO, the Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation — plans to work directly with the unit buyers to custom design the interiors in his first condominium project..... read more

A penthouse in Miami Beach, Fla., that is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2015 is on the market for $35 million.

Located in Miami Beach's South of Fifth neighborhood, the six-bedroom, 7½-bathroom triplex will be nearly 8,000 square feet with 7,500 square feet of outdoor space. The 18th floor will be the master suite with two large closets; the 17th floor will have a mirrored-glass foyer, an all-marble kitchen, a floating glass interior staircase, an outdoor kitchen and a 40-foot-long infinity pool. The 16th floor will include a gym, media room and bedrooms.

Designed by architect Rene Gonzalez, the building is named Glass and consists of 10 full-floor units.
